WarTales is a gritty mercenary epic poem from the makers of Northgard

During the PC Gambling Show, Shiro Games—the studio causative for Northgard, Evoland, and Darksburg—revealed its next project, WarTales. A strategy game in a medieval stage setting, WarTales gives you bid of a mercenary company, challenged with keeping them fed and paid every bit you explore plague-destroyed kingdoms. The engagement mechanic is an example of that. Once in close combat opponents are bolted in concert, which makes manoeuvring matter, but your mercenaries have abilities that might rent out them escape betrothal, or force enemies to switch who they'ray committed with. Those mercenaries are willy-nilly generated, with "different jobs, different weapon styles, unusual skill sets", and can be trained further at camp down.

Those skills will follow essential to defeat WarTales' toughest enemies. "We too have a concept of a champion," Cannasse says, "which is a single building block like a boss fighter that can take on several times per round and is very powerful.
